||Disc Manager Features
||Microsoft Windows Explorer "look and feel"
Disc Manager software was designed with a Windows Explorer look and feel, so
Windows users can quickly and easily know how to use the software. With
features like "drag and drop" and the windows "treeview" and "listview" you may
be able to know how to navigate through the software with ease.
||Sign In Manager
Disc Manager now has a feature to allow users to track disc access. Sign In
Manager works in two ways. One way is Logon at startup. Disc Manager will not
run unless the user enters a userid and password. The second way is disc
access. You can start up Disc Manager without logging in, but each time you try
to retrieve a disc it will make you enter a user id and password. Disc Manager
keeps an audit trail of the disc, action, user, and date that the disc was
accessed. You can print reports or export your audit trail to an Excel
Spreadsheet. Sign in Data can be viewed for each disc under properties.
||Loan Comment Manager
Disc Manager has added a loan Comment manager. How this feature works is when
you retreive a disc (add or remove), you have an option to add a comment. this
comment can be what ever data you would like, for example "loaned to Joe
Smith". Then if the software is configued to show alerts, you can select to
show a reminder and pick a date. This loan comment information can be viewed
for each disc under properties.
Even though Disc Manager was not designed for networking, it has features which
will allow users to use it in this fashion. The software allows users to move
your database to a common location and allows each licensed version connect to
that database for shared access. If turning on the optional Signin Manager with
the "at startup" option it works just like a network appliction.
You can create a disc grouper and drag and drop your discs into the disc
grouper. This can allow for quick and easy access to the discs in your
collection. Discs can be in as many disc groupers as you would like. Unlike
Catagories, where each disc can only be in one catagory. For an example, you
can create a disc grouper call "Business Software" and drag and drop your
"Photoshop" disc under the grouper. You can then create another disc grouper
called "Imaging software" and you can also drag and drop your "Photoshop" disc
into your new disc grouper. Since discs can really belong to more then one
catagory, disc groupers make it easy to organize your discs multiple ways.
File Groupers work similar to disc groupers except at a file level. You can
create a file grouper and drag and drop common files into the new file grouper.
The files in your file grouper can be from any disc in your collection. For
example, you can create a file grouper called "Sunsets" and if you have multipe
discs with sunset images on them, you can drag and drop each file under the
"Sunset" grouper. Now you have one grouper with all common files of sunsets in
one place. If you are looking for that favorite picture of the sunset in
Folorida, you can go to the Sunset grouper,look at all the images of sunsets to
find the one you want (Since we store thumbnails it makes it nice and simple).
Douple click on the image you want and disc Manager will eject the correct
disc. You never need to know where that disc is stored or located. There are
many ways to use Groupers, it is all up to your imagination.
For quick and easty access to your discs, Disc Manager provides a barcode
field. Under properties of each disc you can scan a barcode and assign it to
that disc. If you would like to retreive a disc by barcode you can
simply click the barcode icon on the toolbar and the scan the barcode when the
barcode window pops up. You then can click GO and it will retreive your disc.
If you have multiple discs with the same barcode it will display a list of the
discs. You can then double click on the disc you would like to retrieve. If you
would like to find a disc by barcode you can scan your barcode into the
Search for field on the quick Find tool bar. select Barcode from the drop down
box and hit Find Now!. You discs with the bar code will appear in the search
Disc Manager has new Advanced Seach and Quick Seach features. Advance search
allows you to search your collection by using advanced fields or by selecting
"Exact Match", "Begins with", etc.. The Advanced search is very similar to
Window Explorer search. Disc Manager also contains a quick search which will
search for the text you enter in the Search for field. It will search your
collection with the "contains" feature which will find the text anywhere in the
field you ar esearching. You would then pick which field to search from the
drop down box.
||Fast Add or Multidisc Add
Disc Manager has added a Fast add or Multidisc add feature for users who either
want to add all their discs at once or who are not interested in putting the
disc in the CD/DVD reader at that present time. This feature allows users to
just enter a Title, Library and a optional description directly into a grid.
Once you have entered you discs you would then click okay and it will add your
discs to your collection. You can refresh your tree view to instantly see the
new discs added. You can then drag and drop your discs into categories. You
could also select the disc and re-Catalog it at anytime to add the contents of
